Working Together at A/E/C SYSTEMS By Kelly Haggard Bentley Systems presented the "Working Together Breakfast" at the A/E/C SYSTEMS 2001 show in Chicago. The presentation covered the current line of Bentley products and how they help AEC professionals to manage their projects. The big news at the breakfast was the new MicroStation V8.

MicroStation V8 adds native DWG support to the native DGN that currently exists in MicroStation J. One important feature of V8 is a change to the file format used to store design data, which provides expanded functionality while maximizing interoperability. The new version will also include many enhancements, such as the ability to share your data in hybrid workflows without the need of translations.

This represents the next step in Bentley's vision and direction towards engineering component modeling. The beta is available now and scheduled to ship after the Bentley International Users Conference in September.
