As part of its strategy to become the worldwide leader in distributed document scanning, Eastman Kodak Company today launched two new next-generation desktop scanners ? the KODAK i55 and i65 Scanners.
Unveiled in connection with Kodak?s participation in the AIIM On Demand Conference & Exposition in Philadelphia from May 17-19 (Kodak Booth 601), the new i55 and i65 offer outstanding 600 dpi bitonal and color performance, increased speed, productivity, and added flexibility for companies, organizations, and government agencies with daily volume requirements up to 1,000 pages per day.
?Kodak image processing, reliability, versatility, easy installation, and affordability ? these are all things Kodak?s customers have requested at the workgroup level,? said Sue Cardot, US&C marketing director of Kodak?s Document Imaging business. ?Kodak responded with the i55 and i65, as part of our ongoing efforts to enhance innovative products that help enterprises of all sizes to better capture, manage, archive, and deliver critical business information.?
Both scanners offer affordability, Kodak?s renowned image quality, and reliability ? all in a compact desktop design that is ready to use right out of the box.
The i55 is a simplex model with speeds up to 30 pages per minute (ppm). The i65 is a duplex model capable of processing 60 images per minute (ipm) by capturing both sides of a document simultaneously at 200dpi, or color at 150dpi.
The new units replace the KODAK i50 and i60 Scanners, which were introduced in 2001. Those models will be discontinued as the new i55 and i65 scanners begin shipping in early July. The i55 and i65 are similar to their predecessors in that they retain the familiar built-in flatbed. However, the i55 and i65 are faster than their predecessors and come equipped with several new features, including:
-- A built-in ?Plug and Play? dual USB 2.0 interface ? including card and cable ? and SCSI-2, enabling easy integration
-- Perfect Page Scanning with iThresholding
-- Longer document length capability (up to 34 inches)
-- Industry-standard ISIS and exclusive, Kodak-developed TWAIN drivers
-- Bundled KODAK Capture Software, Lite

The i55 has a U.S. list price of $1,480 and the i65 has a U.S. list price of $2,200. The i55 and i65 are backed by industry-leading, Kodak-delivered service and support with a 90-day warranty.
