Chase: Hollywood Stunt Driver Developer Interview I-Imagine Interactive Managing Director Dan Wagner talks about the unique Xbox only game By Don Lee Chase: Hollywood Stunt DriverWhen the Xbox was first announced, people were skeptical over whether Microsoft was venturing into an unknown arena already dominated by Sony and their Playstation console. Sony claims to have shipped over 40 million units of the Playstation 2 since its launch in 2000. Even with those staggering numbers, the Xbox has managed to pry away a good number of gamers with some quality Xbox only games such as BAM! Entertainment's "Chase: Hollywood Stunt Driver."

Having quality Xbox only games is a great way to lure people to their game console and with a unique game like "Chase", the platform will have an opportunity to gain some ground on Sony's Playstation franchise. In learning more about the development of "Chase: Hollywood Stunt Driver," we contacted the game's developer I-Imagine Interactive. The company's Managing Director Dan Wagner was kind enough to answer a few questions to inform us about the game as well as what their future plans are.

Digital Game Developer: Why did you develop Chase: Hollywood Stunt Driver for Xbox only?
Dan Wagner: We were lucky enough to be involved in the incubator program with Xbox, so we felt it was best to concentrate on its development for Xbox.

DGD: Chase: Hollywood Stunt Driver has some very exciting action sequences, what tools did you use in creating the in-game animation?
DW: Character and dynamic objects such as trains are pre-done in 3D Studio Max and are animated in the game through our vertex shaders. Our physics engine drives the rest of the animations.

DGD: What were some of the major problems you encountered during production and how did you resolve them?
DW: The biggest problem we faced is when we signed on for Xbox a year into the development of Chase. This is due to the fact that the Xbox was much more powerful and it meant that we had to upgrade both our graphics and even add more gameplay. The PC version didn?t allow you to see into the cars, nor did it have convertibles or motorbikes. To address these issues we had to elongate our schedule.
