Tenba Cineluxe Shoulder Bag 24
Tenba Cineluxe Shoulder Bag 24
Over the last 30 years, I've used all sorts of bags and cases to store and transport my cameras. I've used hard case, and soft bags. I've used cases that claim to be soft but sturdy, but ultimate fall apart, thus putting my gear in jeopardy. For the last month I've been using the Tenba Ceneluxe Shoulder Bag 24, and it has moved to the top of my list of bags that make it easy to store my cameras and take them on the road. Read More

Cotton StrapShot EV1 Holster
Cotton StrapShot EV1 Holster
Photographers need to be ready to take a photo at a moment's notice, but must be diligent in protecting the expensive equipment they are using. Ditching a lens cap for a cheap UV filter reduces the time it take you to go from camera off to click the shutter. Camera bags are chosen for their ability to keep gear safe and how easy they allow you to access that gear. If you are of an adventurous mind and spend your time hiking through the woods, casting a line in a river, or any number of outdoor activities, you face the same two problems but to more of an extreme. The Cotton StrapShot EV1 Holster is here to lend a helping hand. Read More

Lightworks from Editshare
Lightworks from Editshare
Over the last few years, we have been literally bombarded with video editing packages (NLEs) from all sides. The stalwarts that have been around seemingly for ever such as Adobe's Premiere Pro, Grass Valley EDIUS, AVID products, Final Cut from Apple and Vegas Pro are in that mix and classified as "pro" products, while offerings from Corel, Pinnacle, MAGIX and others have been more aimed at the consumer market. Among all of these, a program that has somewhat been bypassed is Lightworks - now up to version 14 and in its 25th year! Read More

iClone Character Creation
iClone Character Creation
As we have mentioned previously, iClone6 has a companion application called the iClone Character Creator. As the name suggests, this program allows you to create lifeline animated characters for inclusion in your iClone movies, or indeed your own by using green screen techniques. Unlike 3D programs such as Cinema 4D or Lightwave, iClone Character Creator comes with basic models you can start with, tweak all facets of the physical attributes, add clothing to and animate so the process is quite painless without having to learn the art of modelling, texturing, inverse kinematics and other complex things other programs need. Vegas Movie Studio Platinum
Vegas Movie Studio Platinum
The familiar light grey facade of the Vegas family has been changed to a black motif in Vegas Movie Studio Platinum (and I suspect this will flow through to Vegas Pro as well. All the kids are doing it!) that is not unattractive. In fact, the whole interface has been made over and somehow looks cleaner and more businesslike. Text descriptions and icons are sharp and clear and if there is any criticism, you may have to change your monitor's contrast a little as on my Dell 27 XPS All-in-One, the vertical lines in the timeline were quite faint. In the past if someone suggested you could get probably 85% of the power of Premiere and After Effects together in a package that sells for under a hundred bucks, you'd think they were barking mad and aiming to be the Pres of the USA perhaps!
