Quicktake: Adobe PremiereClip
Last week, I had the opportunity to put Adobe's PremiereClip through some paces. Although it wasn't a completely rigorous testing, it was enough to get a clear view of what the application was capable of, it's pros and cons, and create some mildly entertaining news pieces during the biggest broadcast event of the year. Intel Launches Messaging App Using Cartoons To Mimic Sender's Face
Intel Corp is getting into voice instant messaging with a smartphone app that uses facial tracking technology to caricature a sender's expressions. Pocket Avatars was launched on Thursday by Mike Bell, an Intel senior executive whose job is to make sure the world's largest semiconductor maker is at the front of future technology trends after arriving disastrously late to smartphones and tablets. The app uses a smartphone's camera and microphone to record a short message while mapping the speaker's facial expressions onto one of several cartoon characters.

For the King of All Media, a Birthday Bash Gets a Royal Production
For the King of All Media, a Birthday Bash Gets a Royal Production
When you're the King of All Media, your birthday party is a royal event. So when Howard Stern chose to celebrate his 60th Birthday Bash at New York City's Hammerstein Ballroom-part of the Manhattan Center, located at 311 West 34th Street-on the night of January 31, an array of topnotch production staff went into action to ensure that everything ran smoothly. The crowd inside the Hammerstein Ballroom-and those listening to the live broadcast on SiriusXM Satellite Radio-were delighted with Howard, his cast of regulars, and a galaxy of guests ranging from Rob Zombie to George Takei, Jimmy Kimmel, The Black Keys, Joan Rivers, Jon Bon Jovi, Adam Levine and dozens more. Behind the scenes, the quality of the production was just as brilliant. Topping it all off, the production staff had only two days to pull it off. Read More

12 Years A Slave Director Steve McQueen & Screenwriter John Ridley Have Been In A Serious Feud Full Of Shade!
Director Steve McQueen & screenwriter John Ridley have been apparently experiencing an epic feud since the start of awards season over the film's screenplay credits, which completely boiled over during last night's Oscars telecast! As John took the stage to accept his award for Best Adapted Screenplay, he failed to mention Steve in his slew of thank yous' because he reportedly turned down the director's request to be added to the writing credits! When McQueen later took the microphone at the end of the evening for his Best Picture win, he made no mention of the writer. Read More

Super Bowl Ad Press Conference Blow-up
Super Bowl Ad Press Conference Blow-up
On Sunday night, after all the much-anticipated Super Bowl commercials had aired, one post-ad press conference got a little heated. The concept of the Radio Shack commercial, which featured popular figures from the 1980s, was lost on several reporters who just didn't seem to understand. Is Radio Shack still relevant to today's Best Buy generation? Is Best Buy still relevant? Either way, it's troubling to know that several cats may have been harmed in the commercial thanks to ALF. Who was your favorite 80s c Read More

Enjoying the Movie Music? You Might Have NYC's Grandest Ballroom to Thank
As movie audiences settle in to enjoy Ben Stiller's new movie The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, it's a sure bet that the film's score will add to the drama on screen. What most audiences might not appreciate is the dramatic history of the space where that score was recorded: Manhattan Center's Grand Ballroom. Along with the Hammerstein Ballroom, the Grand Ballroom is part of the Manhattan Center, and it is Manhattan Center Productions that operates New York City's most advanced independent recording studios and television production facilities. Virtual Idol Excites Fans in Live MIKUPA Concert
Virtual Idol Excites Fans in Live MIKUPA Concert
In many ways, Hatsune Miku is a typical teenaged pop star. She is a popular performer in Japan with her own signature style (think long turquoise pigtails) and she sings regularly to large, excited crowds. But unlike other pop stars, Hatsune Miku is actually a computer generated image. She is a vocaloid character created by Crypton Future Media. Vocaloid software allows a user to type in lyrics and melody which can then be sung by a voice synthesized from recordings of a voiceover actress. Since vocaloid's release, more than 100,000 songs have been created and published by its users. Users can also use Hatsune Miku's artwork if it is not for commercial use, so not only can they create songs, but also illustrations and CGI. Read More
